Spring Flowers Book Tag

Welcome Spring! Oh, you have been missed! I absolutely love Spring and Texas has beautiful wild flowers. To honor the arrival of Spring, I’ve decided to do a book tag in connection to Spring Flowers. This is a time for happiness and a great time for a book tag!

Daffodil- A book about unrequited love
Unrequited love is hard to come by. In Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, Louisa and Will have this love. Although, it isn’t what you think. It’s not a googly eyed drooling kind of love, it’s a how much are you willing to sacrifice love. You can read more about my review here.

Foxglove- A book you pretended to like

Oh, one book I can understand the hype is Night Circus. It seems everyone is in love with that book. Anyways, if you ask me if I liked it, I’ll say “Ahh sure, yeah, you can say that.” I don’t know, if someone could explain to me their love, maybe I can understand.

Lilac- A book about a first love

I’m not sure if this one really counts but I chose Fates and Furies. This book explores the relationship between a married couple. It shows the different perspectives from couple and their definitions of what marriage is.

Hyacinth- A book with a sad ending
Never Let Me Go was a sad book in general. It was very thought provoking though but so sad. It’s one of the main reasons I didn’t enjoy the book.

Peony- A book that made
you feel embarrassed
Well, the book didn’t really embarrass me, I was worried what other people would think when they saw me reading Eragon. It’s a book you read in like, middle school. It’s one of my absolute favorites though. So, I read it no matter what everybody else thinks.

Tulip- A book with the most beautiful declaration of love
The most declaring love I can think of is to love one self. The perfect book that teaches to love yourself is, I Am That Girl. I loved this book and it helped me so much. I realized that to be successful and happy, you need to love yourself. Cheesy, but true.

Crocus- A book that made you laugh out loud
This one was difficult for me because I don’t really read books that are “humorous”, but the Harry Dresden Files has some laughable moments. This series is also another absolute favorite of mine.

Pansy- A book that challenged you to think about an important or heavy subject

I haven’t read it yet but I just ordered it tonight, it’s a book titled Unwind. It presents a very interesting alternative to abortion. I picked this book because it’s unordinary  idea.

Daisy- A book about a strong female friendship
I picked The String Diaries for this one because it’s a novel based on what a mother will do to save her daughter. I loved this book and it was such a strong relationship between mother and daughter.

I had so much fun doing this book tag, and so I tag anyone else who wants to enjoy it! I originally found this book tag on Dreaming of Ink and Paper. It’s a beautiful blog!

Me Before You and Red Wine

This month I decided to fall into romance. Me Before You is an unconventional love story but a true love story none the less. I picked up this book at Half Price Book Store about a month ago and I’ve been craving to read it ever since. I went into this 369 page novel unbiased as I hadn’t seen the beloved movie either. This was my third book of the year and I started on January 30th and finished this tear-jerker on February 10th. I paired Me Before You with a red wine to really indulge myself in the feeling of romance. (Plus, who doesn’t love a good red wine!) Overall I gave Me Before You a rating of 6 out of 10.

Me Before You

Me Before You starts with the horrific accident that damages the eccentric life of Will Traynor. Will’s life was so full of adventure, action, and excitement, that walking to work on a rainy day was the last of his worries. The story then turns to the main beauty of our love story, Louisa Clark.

Louisa Clark is an average girl who finds joy in even the roughest of days. Her family relies on her to be the bread winner as no one else seems to find a job. Her new job requires her to be a caregiver of a quadriplegic which seems like a job of a life time with the great pay, no skills required and it’s right down the street from her home. As fate has it, our two lovers meet, Louisa and Will.

The relationship is difficult at first; Will didn’t want to talk much and Lou was quite a chatty woman. Their relationship begins to flourish as Will comes to terms with Lou being his caregiver. But there is an obstacle these two must over come and they are both fighting for what they think is right.

It all comes down to sacrificing yourself to make the one you love happy, and making their wants and drams come true.

Me Before You is a journey of love about persistence and happiness. I was thrilled to read this book since it has been publicized pretty much everywhere since the release of the movie. (I am a true believer that you should read the book of any movie before you see the movie in theaters.) I craved to be emotional with this book and I feel that I was let down.

The relationship between Lou and Will seems unbalanced to me. As if Lou truly loves Will and Lou is just a convenient person for Will to care deeply about. Notice how I didn’t say love… Although, when I watched the movie, I was sobbing uncontrollably. I watched the movie with my significant other and he also found the movie to be compelling. (By the way, he is not a chick flick kind of dude, so that says a lot about this movie.)

The book taught me a life lesson: live to the fullest everyday because you never know when it’s going to be taken away.

Red Wine

My drink selection for this book is red wine. I drank my red wine several nights as I was enjoying my reading time. I was able to relax and put myself into the romance attitude. Whenever Louisa wore her red dress, I couldn’t help but connect her look with a fancy red wine. There are plenty of red wines but my favorite is made by Prima Mazzo. Sweet and easy to drink.

On to the next…

I loved the experience Me Before You gave to me. It truly got me thinking and reconsidering how to live my life to the fullest. I recommend this book for any romance lovers and those wanting more out of their life. My next book is also a musical and it famous for its spin on an original tale, Wicked. Stay tuned for the next Book and Drink. Let the Story Flow!
